Biography

Dt. Thapa's academic and research journey has been marked by significant achievements and contributions to the field of medicine, particularly in neurology and neuroimmunology. After completing medical school, Dt. Thapa pursued further specialization and training by joining Westchester Medical Center, affiliated with New York Medical College, as a PGY1 resident. As a PGY1 resident, Dr. Thapa is currently in the first year of post-graduate medical training, gaining valuable clinical experience and knowledge under the guidance of experienced physicians.

Driven by a passion for research and a desire to make a difference in the medical field, Dt. Thapa sought additional research opportunities. This led to a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Minnesota, where Dt. Thapa collaborated with Dr. Asakura on a project focusing on vascular therapy for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). This field of research aims to explore potential therapeutic approaches to address the medical challenges posed by DMD, a genetic disorder affecting muscle function.

Following the postdoctoral research fellowship, Dt. Thapa further honed her medical expertise by working as a research fellow at the Department of Neurology at the University of Buffalo under the guidance of Dr. Bianca Weisntock Guttman. During this time, his research interests expanded to include multiple sclerosis, a complex neuroinflammatory disease. The research conducted in collaboration with Dr. Guttman likely involved investigating various aspects of multiple sclerosis, such as disease mechanisms, potential treatments, or advancements in diagnostic approaches.

Dt. Thapa's dedication to advancing medical knowledge and contributing to the scientific community is evident from the numerous articles published in neurology and neuroimmunology. These articles represent a substantial body of work, reflecting his expertise and commitment to staying at the forefront of medical research and development.
