Selena Ming Shen is a high school junior at Pine View School, Florida. She has great interest in sensory neuroscience and genetics, with ongoing projects contributing to the pioneering research at the Cai Lab at Department of Cell & Development Biology, University of Michigan. She has been honored as a USA Brain Bee qualifier (2026), the world champion of the Health Informatics Competition in HOSA ILC (2024), and a finalist for the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF, 2024). She also has several first-authored manuscripts published or under review (2024-26). In addition, Selena is active in neuroscience education outreach as a global leadership member in the International Youth Neuroscience Association. She also teaches music workshops to blind individuals and plays music for hospice patients, guided by a belief in the profound ability of sensory experience to comfort, connect, and heal.
